Blowers; They are devices that are used in machinery, chemistry, food, health, cleaning, textile and many other fields and provide the required air or vacuum for an environment or process. Blowers, which are similar to fans and pumps in terms of design and working principle, can also be referred to under different names in the market. Blower fan, blower motor, centrifugal fan, centrifugal blowers, side channel blower or vacuum pump are some of these names.

Although there are blowers with different operating principles or different structures, mechanical and electrical designs on the market, the most common models are centrifugal blowers. Unlike roots type devices, these blower models work not with the principle of belt - pulley, but with the rotation of the side channel impeller directly attached to the shaft of the electric motor. This impeller rotates at high speed with the power it receives from the motor and the air drawn from the inlet is directed towards the outlet with helical movements. Centrifugal blowers thus produce the high flow and low pressure air required for the system, application or environment.

Centrifugal blowers, which have features such as no lubrication and nearly vibration-free operation, low maintenance and related low maintenance costs, are frequently preferred for these advantages. Being able to produce air at positive pressure and use it as a vacuum pump on demand expands the usage areas of centrifugal blowers. Ease of installation, high efficiency and simple compact design are other distinguishing features of these devices.

Points to Consider When Choosing Centrifugal Blowers

Although the blowers have many superior features, they can provide maximum efficiency only when the right product is selected for the right application. Otherwise, the desired performance will not be obtained from the product, and the correct air flow and amount will not be obtained depending on the place of use. For this reason, it is useful to pay attention to the following issues in the selection of centrifugal blowers.

The required air flow, velocity, pressure and ambient or process temperature must be determined correctly.

It is recommended to select the point of use determined in the centrifugal blowers with the air capacity performance curve according to the pressure change, to provide at least 20% tolerance from the maximum values ​​of the blower if possible.

Electric motor power should be determined according to the power value drawn at this selected working point.

A project should be prepared for the air flow direction and installation type according to the usage place. Other line components (ducts, filters, valves etc.) to be used with blowers should be included in this project.

Attention should be paid to the components that would cause pressure drop where the blower is used and the total pressure drop should be calculated.

If the blowers are to be used for vacuuming, the required vacuum pressure value should be determined and it should be checked whether the blower can provide this value.

After the blowers are put into service, their maintenance should be monitored regularly.
