Pumps are divided into different classes according to parameters such as internal and external design, working principle, pumped liquid, capacity, material properties etc. Among these, widely used gear pumps provide great benefits to users thanks to their many advantageous features. Gear pump models, which are divided into different categories, are used in a wide range from very low capacities to high capacity industrial applications. These pumps, which have the feature of working together with different types of fluids, are known to be long-lasting, durable and efficient.

Gear Pump Working Principle

These pumps, as the name suggests, operate with the movement of the gears inside. In pumps produced as internal gear or external gear (helical gear), the gears start to rotate with the movement of the motor and a vacuum is formed at the pump inlet. The liquid, which begins to fill the inlet part of the gear pump under vacuum effect, is pressurized with the movement of the gears and is directed towards the outlet of the pump. The liquid to be transferred is then pressurized out of the pump and moved to the desired location.

Gear pumps are divided into two as internal gear and external gear. External gear pumps have two identical gears, also called helical gear pumps. The liquid entering the pump travels around the gears and moves towards the exit. There are two threaded gears in internal gear pumps. It moves the outer gear by rotating with the power it gets from the gear motor inside. Thus, the liquid between the two gears is pressurized and directed towards the pump outlet.

In gear pumps, gears can be connected to the motor in different ways. As well as pump models directly connected to the electric motor, gears can be connected to the motor shaft with a mechanical or magnetic coupling, reducer or belt - pulley principle. In the gear pump models, the flow rate can be controlled by adjusting the gear rotation speed with the help of the frequency inverter, and dosing can be done if necessary.
