Fluid speed, pressure, density, viscosity when choosing pump; Besides, pipe diameter, capacity of the system and similar parameters must be determined correctly. In addition, the type of fluid, material compatibility, and sealing have a direct impact on pump selection. In this context, we see that the use of mono pump stands out especially for the transfer of high viscosity mud, concrete, honey, paint, silicone, glue, detergent and similar fluids.
What is Mono Pump?
Mono pumps are the types of pumps developed to provide precise and continuous flow of high viscosity liquids thanks to the metal rotors moving with the endless screw logic inside. The mono pump types that do not cause any turbulence due to their non-impact flow are known as the most suitable solutions in the industry for pure, mixed or solid particle liquids. Another advantage of using mono pump is that it prevents any physical events such as watering, foaming, collapse in the flow from occurring. Monopumps in the literature, screw pump, progressive cavity pump, viscous liquid pump, or it is also referred to as concrete pump, jam pump, chocolate pump, paint pump, mud pump, wastewater pump, sludge pump depending on the type of fluid it operates.
Mono Pump Features
Monopumps are a type of pump that gives very good results in almost any process using high viscosity fluids. Many of these pumps, which are optimized for use for all types of flow, pressure and speed values, are self-riming. Mono pump models with silent and vibration-free operation stand out as an optimum choice for fluids from -20oC to 300oC. It is possible to see different mono pump designs for variable capacity options according to the need.
The material of the surfaces that the fluid comes into contact with pumps is very important. Because, the same material is not used in mono pumps produced for a food process and pumps produced for sludge or silicon transfer. Mono pumps can be produced with special materials in processes such as food, cosmetics and beverage industries where hygiene is a priority. This is one of the most important advantages of monopumps for users.
Mono pumps consist of two basic components. One is the twisted structure called rotor, which gives the pump its characteristic feature; the other is the structure that forms the body of the pump and is called a stator. Rotor material can generally be chrome plated carbon steel, stainless steel (AISI 304 or 316 quality) or different material types depending on demand. As a stator material, we generally come across rubber types such as NBR, HBNR, EPDM, CSM or FPM. However, mono pumps are based on the geometric structure of the rotor; It can also differ according to parameters such as number of auger, length etc.
