Air operated acid pumps are in various sizes and capacities and are especially used in the transfer or circulation processes of aggressive acids containing particles smaller than 10 mm. As it is known, in general terms, pumps are products used in the transfer of fluids in the liquid phase. It is possible to talk about a very wide usage area of ​​pumps.

 It can find a response in many technical applications in fields such as automotive, petroleum, chemistry, refining, air conditioning, medicine, paper production, machinery manufacturing, agriculture. Generally, it can have different working principles depending on the purpose or place of use. However, it is possible to talk about different types such as gear, rotor or piston. The capacity levels in the production process may change depending on how much liquid is transmitted in the mechanism or how much it pressurizes the liquid in question. Exactly because of this, the design types of the pumps may change according to the liquid types such as solvent, water, oil. If the substance in question is an acid or acid-like liquid, these pumps are called “acid pumps”.

Materials for Air Operated Acid Pump

 In general terms, an acid pump can be thought of as a type of pump that transfers acidic liquids from one place to another. The reason why it is named so is that both the design style and the material choices are created in a way that is suitable for the acid used directly. Admittedly, acids can create a corrosive effect due to their nature. Therefore, it is very important for the materials to show resistance in case of acid contact inside the pump.

When it comes to acid pumps, one of the most critical issues is the materials used during the design. Acid pumps have to be separated from other pumps in this respect. It is necessary to separate and examine these pumps independently as casing, diaphragm, ball valve,  or sealing elements. In air acid pumps, materials called PP or PVDF are used, especially in the body parts. For elements called O-Ring and diaphragm, materials such as Santoprene and EPDM are preferred depending on their chemical resistance and properties, especially Teflon and Viton. The material used for the valve seat material in the air acid pumps is generally the same as the body material and is PP or PVDF. Another alternative is Santoprene or Viton, which is the same as the diaphragm material.

Types and Uses of Acid Pumps

Air operated acid pumps, as the name suggests, are of the double diaphragm type and are driven by compressed air from the compressor, meaning no electricity is used. As with all air operated pumps, the biggest advantages are simple designs, easy use, low maintenance, economical spare parts, and absence of sealing elements such as shaft seals.

Acid pumps; It is selected in its material structure in acidic or basic liquids, based on the properties of the chemical to be used, it is actively used in all chemical or solvent types, salt water, drug making or treatment plants for various chemicals.
